O agente branqueador fluorescente é um corante fluorescente, ou corante branco, e um termo genérico para uma classe de compostos. Caracteriza-se pela sua capacidade de excitar a luz incidente para produzir fluorescência, de modo a que a substância tingida adquira um efeito cintilante semelhante ao da fluorite, fazendo-a parecer branca a olho nu. Os branqueadores fluorescentes normalmente funcionam reduzindo a gritaria e melhorando a brancura. Ajudam a melhorar a luminosidade geral de qualquer produto.
